About Me
Leah Alford lives by the sun-soaked beaches of Florida, where
her Spanish, French, English, and Scotch-Irish ancestors settled. In fact, her
English ancestors were some of the first cowboys in the U.S., herding Brahma
bulls through the salt marshes and swamps of Northwest Florida. A born
storyteller, Leah holds a double major in English Literature and Spanish, teaching certifications in ELA K-12, Reading and ESOL Endorsements, and has
spent over 25 years teaching thousands of students the power of story—from
ancient myths to modern masterpieces. She is a quarter and semi-finalist in several
ScreenCraft writing competitions, and she was awarded a Living Waters Award in
2019 for first place in fiction at the Andalusia, Alabama’s Black Water Writing
Conference.
Her writing voice, shaped by both scholarship and experience, deepened after a series of personal losses: the death of both parents in her early twenties, the devastation of Hurricane Michael in 2018, a divorce, the pandemic, and ultimately, becoming the sole parent to her son after his father’s passing. Through it all, LEAH leaned into her to teaching career, earning her ESOL and Reading Endorsements and working toward a master’s in Literacy, while never letting go of her love for writing.
With guidance from Roadmap Writers, The SPA Girls, The Creative Penn, and the mentorship of author, M.L. Bullock, she has refined her craft and returned to the page with a renewed sense of purpose—creating stories rooted in strength, grace, and the unshakable belief that love never dies and light always conquers the darkness.
